How Was Your Weekday?🌻

My view on most mornings

Life as a semi-active housewife has been… well, pretty chill this week. It’s mostly me trying to survive a full day on mocha lattes just to bypass the drowsy hangover from my meds the night before.

And then the rest of my day has basically been a loop of:

  • Watching BookTube while aggressively stroking my cat’s chunky neck.
  • Slaying dust bunnies and cat fur with the new vacuum my husband is excited for me to use “as often as I feel like it.” (I see you, babe).
  • Scrolling through blogs and internally judging some truly questionable takes on Threads.

But the real boss-level struggle? The tropical heat. No kidding, by 9 AM, my room feels like a 4-wall furnace. I’m just a piece of marinated chicken sitting in the middle of a giant stove, waiting for the timer to go off. I’m not the only one to complain about the weather, everybody is, even from well air-conditioned buildings, no one is completely safe from the heat. On Threads at least, we mostly blame it on those who use generative AI and driving the AI data centres here over the top, especially after the Eid festive season that brought a massive use of AI to generate awful fake-looking “art” family photos. Yes, I’m openly judging them.

Because I found a wonderful artist to draw a cartoon portrait of my small family for just RM30 ($7) and it turned out beautiful! People literally have zero excuse to hire artists for affordable art made.

I also finished reading the third and final instalment of The Three Body Problem trilogy series, Death’s End earlier this week. This 600-page chunk of a book was an adventure to read but oh boy, I can’t say anything great about the physical condition of the book. It looks like I worn it down on purpose when in fact I kept trashing it on accident whenever I carry it in my handbag. Online peeps suggested I get a booksleeve, to which I adhered and instantly ordered a handmade one. It arrived just yesterday and doesn’t it look cosy? I can just hear the relieved sigh of my other untouched and unread books on my shelves. They’re safe.

I’m not much of a figurine or merchandise collector, but these ones, the Bikini Bottom Residents fish plush keychains, are an exception. They look so miserably relatable that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second collection series that came out this week. This is the guy that I got. He’s perfectly like me on a day-to-day basis. It’s giving “I’ve been awake for five minutes and I’m already over it.”

So how’s your week going? Great-ish? Not so? Let me know in the comments!
