My 2025 Birthday Haul

It’s my birthday! It snuck in over the weekend, and I had the best time celebrating with my favourite people (cats included, of course). I was showered with such thoughtful gifts (thank you, thank you!), but the whole thing also brought into sharp focus the fact that I’m thisss close to the 🧍‍♀️big 3-0. And you know what? It’s not freaking me out like I thought it would, in fact, not as much as others thought I would. Honestly, I guess I just don’t feel like I’ve hit all those “should be together by 30” milestones yet.

Okay, enough about the existential stuff! Let’s get to the fun part: birthday presents! I’m so excited to share with you of what I got, and I might even update this post if any more goodies come my way later in the month. But honestly, the best gift of all is having such amazing people colouring my life so far. I’m truly grateful for every single thing🩷.

Books

I received two books from my husband during a 🤭 “random” visit to POPULAR Bookstore at IOI Putrajaya. He’s such a sweetheart. I snagged Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs and the first book in the Nightborn Duet, The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent. Honestly, it didn’t take much convincing to get me to the checkout. I just glanced at the synopses, saw that the main character is a woman (girl boss let’s go), that it’s fantasy… or not (I’m in my experimental genre phase~) and I was sold. On the plus side, they had discounts, so each book was under RM100. Still a bit of a splurge, scratch that like who am I even kidding, they were expensive. But when you’re a reader in Malaysia, books really do feel like a luxury here 🥹✌️.

Cutest mini tote bag

I got this adorable tote bag from my sister-in-laws! They had it customised with cute patches of my name and interestingly relatable illustrations of cats and coffee–basically, my life in a nutshell at the moment. I love how each one resonates so well with my personality and habits. It also turned out to be the PERFECT 📖book bag! I was reading The Secret History at the time, and it went everywhere with me – mall trips, dinners, you name it.

Trendy chonky shoes

Shopping for clothes isn’t really my thing–books, cat toys, that’s my jam. However, I recently had a shoe revelation. My husband and I were at the mall, and we came across these cute chunky sneakers. They were the perfect neutral colour and, coincidentally, matched the new outfit I was wearing (let’s just say my wardrobe these days have grown a size or two bigger… big thanks to 2024 and coffee), and so we knew… she was the one. They had my size, the shoes felt like soft clouds on my feet, and we were there at the cashier mere minutes after trying them out. I used to be a die-hard Skechers fan before the boycott – they’re so comfy and supportive – but these chunky cuties from Bethany Roma are giving them a run for their money. And the best part was that they were much more affordable for the same comfort.

Lip Oil & Blush

I was also so excited to receive some Alha Alfa cosmetics from my family. I’ve been wanting to try this local brand for ages. They got me the Honey Lip Magic Hydrating Lip Treatment Oil and Cheeky Matte Powder Blush in the shade Coral. The lip oil is a new thing for me, I’ve never tried one from other brands either. And the blush? Girl, one can never have enough of blush. Plus, I just so happened to not have one in this exact shade.

Now what about youuu? Have you been on a shopping spree recently?
